Wabash Minstrels

Here is a photo from the New Hampshire Historical Society Collection in Concord by NH photographer Henry P. Moore. It is one of a number of his Civil War naval photos. This one shows a minstrel band aboard the USS Wabash in 1863. Minstrel shows using both white and black sailors were a popular form of entertainment aboard the ships.
